Eligibility of Application:

Since the revamp of Exit Examination in 2025, trainees are required to pass the FEEM before they are able to sit in the Exit Assessment. FEEM is considered as an important examination milestone of achieving clinical maturity while the Exit Assessment is an overall assessment on a trainee’s training portfolio
before recommending the trainee for fellowship admission.For details, Please refer to the Section 6.3.1 and Section 7 of the Training Programme for Specialists in Emergency Medicine of Hong Kong College of Emergency Medicine.

The responsibility and the right to vet the application and allow a candidate for the Exit Assessment lie on the Education Committee of the HKCEM.

Requirements

  • Trainee is allowed to sit for the Exit Assessment only if all of the followings are fulfilled:

    a) Passed the FEEM

    b) Completed 6 years of accredited training of which a minimum of

      • – 3 years in EM (1 year of basic training and 2 years of higher training including 6 months of mandatory rotation to other accredited training centres during higher training as specified in section 3.1);
      • – 1 year of mandatory rotation to other specialties as listed in section 3.2

    c) Completed the required oral presentations in basic and higher training

    d) Completed the mandatory training courses as specified in Training programme section 3.3

    e) Completed the WBA requirement as specified in Training programme section 5.2

    f) Completed the Service Improvement Projects as specified in Training programme section 5.3 (effective for trainees

    g) Fulfilled the College research requirement as specified in Training programme section 5.4

  • Trainee, who is a holder of the qualification(s) listed in Appendix 5 and has passed the FEEM, is allowed to sit for the Exit Assessment if they have completed the accredited training specified in Training programme section 3.5.
