
| Course Background |
| Being one of the International Training Centre under American Heart Association, Hong Kong College of Emergency Medicine has been providing resuscitation training in Hong Kong since 1991. We started to organize PALS course since Oct 2006. PALS Provider Course The PALS Provider Course is designed for healthcare provider who either direct or participate in the management of respiratory and/or cardiovascular emergencies and cardiopulmonary arrest in pediatric patients, Pre-course preparation, didactic instruction, and active participation in learning stations, and simulated cases will be used to enhance the recognition and intervention of respiratory emergencies, shock and cardiopulmonary arrest. This Course gives participants the opportunity to acquire, practice and demonstrate proficiency in the assessment and management of critically ill pediatric patients. The goal is to improve outcomes for pediatric patients by preparing healthcare providers to effectively recognize and intervene in patients with respiratory emergencies, shock, and cardiopulmonary arrest by using high-performance team dynamics and high –quality individual skills. |
| Course Prerequisites |
| Participants must hold an AHA BLS certification or an equivalent credential. Please upload a copy of your AHA BLS certificate during the online registration process. If participants do not have a BLS certification, we encourage you to enroll in the BLS Provider Course. |
| Course Completion Requirement |
| Participants must complete the precourse self-assessment available in the PALS Student Resources at eLearning.heart.org. Each participant is required to bring a printed copy of their score, which must be 70% or higher, to the PALS course. Additionally, Participants must attend and actively participate in all course lessons, successfully pass all practical skills tests, and achieve a minimum score of 84% on the written multiple-choice examination. |
| Reading Material |
| The course material including the AHA PALS Provider Manual will be ready for collection after successful application. Early application and collection of course materials is much encouraged. |
